So this forum has been up for what, a couple of days and I already got myself a couple of pet pews and opinions. I do have an experience in the field, but that doesn't make my word law and as the title suggests, these are indeed suggestions, take them or leave them.
1. First off, without a unique take on the X-Men this site will be passed on into the obscure giant mass of generic X-Men RPs and it will die instantly. You need to have some sort of setting that sets it apart from other sites. Something as simple as set in the future of the regular continuity or in another universe all together. Without a unique touch to it, it will never grow into the expectations.
2. Commercialism is the key. You have to get it out there, whether it be with a friends network or by posting links on other sites, it must be sent out there. Otherwise people won't know and there will be no new people coming.
3. I don't know how many times I have said this to people that make and join these sites... but those anime and manga pictures are distracting as all hell. If you truly want my honest opinion on this, it's that I want to stab people in the eyes when they use these pictures in an RP-site inspired by western comics. Sure, you can use them, but use them on sites inspired and dedicated to japanese comics. and if you get on my back for calling them comics instead of manga, grow up, get a life and a job and realize that it doesn't matter if I call it comics, because that is how I see them. The real problem here gets obvious when you pair two characters together and one has a traditional Western style picture and the other has a manga picture. That is how it will look in the player's mind, Wolverine fighting fething Naruto, whooptie friggin doo! You might not think it's a big deal, but the fans of these comics from Western companies like Marvel and DC, won't touch this site with a twenty foot pole. Me included, sadly said. As a opposite to this, that X-Men. Evolutions picture bother me too, it's too goody for my taste, not to mention that people will instantly think it's a site dedicated for that specific show.
4. Define the rules. Right now, you got alot of loopholes to cover. Things like Cookie Cutting, Activity Checks, Oneliners, etc. Rule number 3 and 5 have no place there and the rules overall should be expanded on, because *gasp* there are new people out there who might not know what all this RP lingo is about.
Those are my first impressions. Do with them what you want, but I for one do hope that you take them in consideration, just like I always considered people's suggestions when I admined X-Men: Earth 916.
And seriously, those pictures...
